A little more depth into why I ride and Highway 2 Heal.
My son - throughout my depression I carried a huge sense of guilt. Guilt stemming from not knowing how to help Eliya navigate through his own pain. I didn't know how or have the tools to connect with him in the way that he needed me to. I'm doing this because it's the only way I know how to teach him just how strong and capable he truly is.
This is my story about overcoming the crippling effects of grief and struggling to find the tools that connect me with my son. I want to raise awareness and knowledge about the process of empowering oneself to heal.
The last several years have...F^CKING SUCKED! Like so many others suffering through loss, depression, or the pandemic and global lockdown, I've become pissed off! This anger has inspired me to do what EVER I can, in any small way, to make a positive difference in this world. Riding for a cause like Camp Kesem and connecting with others in an organic way seems like that first step!
A child's friend through and beyond a parents cancer. Founded at Stanford in 2000, it has since grown to 116 chapters in 42 states across the country. Camp Kesem is the largest national organization dedicated to the 5,000,000 children impacted by a parents cancer.
Cycling saved me, literally.
I was never suicidal, but there were some very dark days. Riding gave me the solitude I needed to sit with my thoughts and feelings and do the internal healing work necessary to become aligned and connected with life again. I believe great things come from cycling and I want to share that!
